Workshop Description

In this workshop, participants will learn the basics of writing a theatre review, including how to write about shows by/for children, how to address conflicts of interest, and how to structure their own review of Juvenis' production of 13: The Musical. Participants will additionally learn how to pitch a theatre review/article to publications like the Toronto-based Intermission Magazine, which is Canada's leading theatre publication.

  • Something to write with (pen & paper or laptop)

Aisling Murphy

Aisling Murphy is a theatre critic, playwright, and dramaturg. She is Senior Editor at Intermission Magazine and has additional bylines at the Toronto Star and Maclean's. Aisling is currently an MA student at the University of Toronto, where she is writing a thesis on the history and problematics of Canadian theatre criticism since 1950. She is President of the Canadian Theatre Critics Association, and she lives in Toronto with her cat Fig.
